Ideate: patterns to identify a platform opportunity
In order to illustrate that the platform economy affects everyone in the enterprise and to facilitate broad ideation, we have developed a concise structure based on Michael Porter’s established concept of the value chain.1 Two types of activities can be distinguished in any company according to Porter. First are primary activities that are needed to run your core business, e.g. innovation, development and operations of the product and/or service portfolio, as well as sales, service and customer interaction.
