Design: patterns to create and deliver value as a platform
The purpose of the design patterns is to provide an overview of the core strategic choices when designing a platform business model. To make use of the design patterns, two fundamental types of platform business model need to be distinguished.1 First, there are transaction platforms and marketplaces. Like Amazon, eBay, Airbnb or Uber, they bring two sides of the market together and facilitate transactions between those market sides.
