A specific employee’s job and performance are almost always directly tied to those of other employees on his or her team, outside vendors, and their network at large. One of your objectives in the performance appraisal process is to isolate the individual’s performance from all the surrounding support structures. This can be a difficult task. Keep in mind, when evaluating more than one person with the same responsibilities, that they may have outside factors affecting their performance. These factors need to be taken into account when you are making the evaluation.
