We started out in a pretty great place with these siblings. When we first started the session, it took a while to get them into the swing of things. By the end of the shoot, though, they were fully warmed up and easily smiling together. We lit this shot with only a large reflector, and I sat directly across from them, shooting at f/4. Even with great expressions, I wanted them all to comfortably be a bit closer. It’s not that they weren’t physically close—they’d complied easily enough with that—but that they didn’t feel like they were close. Sometimes those little details make all the difference in how someone else might view the image.
