MONTH 8EMPOWERMENT, TRUST, AND AUTONOMY
#1 WE'VE ALL BEEN UNQUALIFIED AT ONE POINT
I wasn't qualified to lead…until I led.
I wasn't qualified to speak…until I spoke.
I wasn't qualified to create…until I created.
The same is true for you.
Simply put, every single day, we are all unqualified to do a ton of things, but we get it done anyway. You may believe you aren't qualified to
- Lead that project (or that team)
- Speak at that meeting (or on that stage)
- Create that post (or that content)
What you'll start to find out is that you are more than qualified to do whatever it is you set your mind to.
So:
- Lead the project.
- Speak the words.
- Create the content.
The more you do, the more you'll become the all‐in leader you always wanted to be.
#2 CREATE A BIGGER PURPOSE
People love working for all‐in leaders for a number of reasons:
- Career advancement
- Personal growth
- A raise
- Less bureaucracy
- Greater impact
- A great boss
- Praise
But the real reason people love working for all‐in leaders is that they create a sense of purpose for the team. So make it one of your major goals to create a purpose‐driven environment for your team through your mission and vision.
#3 TEACH YOUR TEAM THE TRUE MEANING OF HAPPINESS
The million dollar question is, what is happiness?
Let me start by telling you what happiness isn't. If your definition or idea of happiness starts with the sentence “When I,” you have the wrong idea.
I've been there. Trust me, that thing you thought will make you happy won't.
