Defect Prevention Model
The model used in this book considers the degrees to which a defect is detected versus prevented. Certainly, detection techniques prevent the customer from finding a defect, so they qualify as a rudimentary form of defect prevention. Figure 2-2 is the conceptual hierarchy and goals of each level. The three levels of defect activity contain a number of subactivities that satisfy the main category goals: defect detection, defect prediction, and defect prevention.
