Development of the Consulting Role Preference Indicator

In 2001 a research project was conducted to answer the question: what differentiates high-performing consultants from low performers? The initial findings identified sixty-four behavioral practices. These were submitted to twenty business consultants conducting a range of consulting applications to assess their validity in the real world of consulting. Based on their assessment and subsequent feedback about the wording, ordering, applicability, and validity of each practice, a template of competencies was developed and vigorously refined.
