Abstract

This chapter emphasizes the importance of recording events and points out that report writing is a necessary part of an investigator’s job. The chapter explores the investigative report; structured or formalized reports; and the narrative report, including the basic elements of a good narrative report, which are: a writing told in first-person narrative that is objective, factual, chronological, easily understood, comprehensive, and able to withstand the test of time.
