Abstract
The focus of this chapter is on providing information about illegal discrimination in employment situations and how to conduct investigations of workplace discrimination complaints. The chapter defines discrimination; emphasizes the importance of having clearly stated company policies against prohibited conduct; urges investigators to know the legal prohibitions and factors affecting investigations; and explains tangible employment action, hostile work environment, and sexual harassment.
