5 Resolving Conflict

People disagree with each other. Disagreement can lead to conflict that has to be resolved, but not every conflict needs resolving from the outside.

In this chapter, we discuss different kinds of conflict and what to do with them, including

  • Conflicts that might not even be seen as such and can be solved by the parties involved.

  • Conflicts that need outside intervention to resolve.

  • Conflicts that have escalated so far that they require extraordinary intervention to resolve.

Since disagreement and conflict is unavoidable, Scrum Teams need strategies to cope with it. In this chapter, we share some of the strategies we have used and discuss the options that Scrum Teams have to resolve conflict.
