A project manager's job is to control the project to achieve successful results. In order to accomplish this, one of the project management activities is to produce documents. Plans, status reports, meeting minutes, and issues logs are all part of the process. Depending upon the size of the project, the plan alone may consist of several documents devoted to such issues as the schedule, the budget, staffing, communications, or risks. There are three options for producing this material: don't produce it, allow each project manager to follow his or her own style, or impose standards.
