Utilising the team, sponsor and stakeholders

When we think of projects we often think of future visions, complicated plans and great endeavours. But the heart of a project is not the vision, the plan or the deliverables: it is the project team.

It is the project team that the project manager manages, and which does the work on the project. Overseeing this team is the project sponsor. Beyond the project team and sponsor are a range of other stakeholders who may be interested in or impacted by the project, or the project may need some support from. In other words, project management is people management.
