Delivering the project

The first three parts of book were concerned with building and acquiring everything you need to run the project. In this part, we switch to the application of those various tools, resources, relationships and plans. The whole reason for building the project structure is to enable delivery. This part discusses delivery, the central aspect of project management.

People tend to think in terms of activities, and project plans are usually defined in terms of tasks or activities. But the project team must not just do things – the tasks being done have to lead to the desired outcomes. This is discussed in the first section.
