There is no right interpersonal style for a project manager – successful project managers have a variety of styles. But there are certain approaches to avoid, and some key attributes of style to develop.

THIS CHAPTER LOOKS AT PERSONAL STYLES. Firstly, those which I would counsel any project manager to avoid, and, secondly, those attributes of personal styles to be encouraged in project managers. If you do find you are drawn towards the first set of traits it can limit your success and so you need to learn to moderate them. You may not naturally have all of the second set, but they can be learnt to some extent, or you can bring people into your team who have these skills.
