AN EVOLVING INDUSTRY

When I started to write this book, I assumed that I could safely say that Bitcoin had arrived. What I mean by “arrived” is that it was part of life, not some fringe element or oddity pushed into the spotlight by a devoted band of technology pirates. After all, bitcoin’s market cap had already passed $200 billion and, over the long term, it is heading higher. The cryptocurrencies that it had at least partly inspired totaled an additional $60 billion plus in market cap and are clearly heading toward $100 billion. (In February 2021, bitcoin’s market cap reached $1 trillion.)
