When a prop is broken on stage, the scene instantly gains more drama and excitement. However, if you do not properly plan how to do it, it can easily deplete your budget and steal all of your time.
We have two major categories of breakaways: a single prop which is reassembled after every show, or consumable props which are destroyed every show. For complicated objects, you can combine the two methods, and have part of the prop reusable and part of the prop consumable.
