Play at Peak Times

Since we all seem to be trending toward instant gratification, we just learned not to suppress that emotion but rather embrace it. Once we aligned our most productive hours with the time market prices tended to move the best, this solved the instant-gratification problem we internally faced. A trader's friend is volatility not its enemy. When price moves there is opportunity and when there is opportunity we need to be sharp and focused. You will eventually need and want to structure your focus around these volatile hours because it will solve your patience issues as prices will move enough to captivate your interest.

So what are the peak times around the global clock? The most vibrant economic reports are released at the start of the day session, so this is an obvious time to expect volatility. Since the world seems to be on a two-hour parking meter attention span, the first couple of hours of the day session are the most active. We witnessed this attitude and emotional frenzy routinely every morning on the trading floors. Traders were hyped up with a fresh pile of money to start their day and when the bell rang to begin, it was like a kick-off in a football game or the gun starting a track meet.

With that in mind it's not surprising to conclude that we need to be on the top of our game and be most productive during the first couple hours of the day. Understanding the global time clock will help you to use your financial and physical energy wisely. ...
