Karl Weick defines Enactment as people taking action to make sense of how things work and to solve problems (1988; 2009; Weick and Sutcliffe, 2007). It is also a way of approaching uncertainty. So enactment is a part of the learning process. Taking action sometimes leads to mistakes. Thus mistakes are also part of the learning process.

Enactment—taking action to solve a problem—creates a chain of events. Sometimes things go in the direction that you desire, sometimes they don’t. These outcomes are only seen or understood after action has been taken. Sometimes even though you end up with a desirable outcome, in hindsight, by taking a different path you could have avoided some of the negative experiences.
