INTRODUCTION
There are three different categories of rhythmic and percussive sounds: the main drum kit type of sounds, traditional percussion sounds, and all other sounds that are used as percussive sounds without necessarily being related to anything “real world.” We cover all of these in this chapter, beginning with the main drum kit sounds, as these will form the backbone of any remix you work on.
I will not go too deeply into the harmonic theory surrounding each particular kind of drum sound, as that subject in itself would be enough to fill half of this book on its own! There are many great books, articles, and websites that cover the complex physics involved in recreating drum sounds ...
