In this chapter we look at a couple of different techniques that should be a part of the remixer’s arsenal of techniques. The first, beat-mapping, isn’t related to time-stretching in any way and doesn’t attempt to do the same thing; instead it offers something that might be used alongside time-stretching to help knock problem audio files into shape. The second, recycling, does offer a potential alternative to time-stretching in certain circumstances but can also be used in other ways that are much less problem solving and much more creative.
