If you’re approaching 65 and don’t have enough salted away to meet your goals, all is not lost. Consider that by delaying retirement just a few years, you could be living on easy street.
Somewhere in a parallel universe, everyone reaches their target retirement date with plenty of funds to see them safely through the rest of their lives. No one ever gets divorced, works for a company without a retirement plan, is forced into early retirement, makes poor investments, sends three children to graduate school, delays saving for retirement, saves too little or not at all, or gets wiped out by major medical expense.
