Chapter 9. Too Silent Critics: Academe
Some university business programs have taken to offering “jailhouse seminars,” which include a field trip to jails in order to understand ethics. Students get to interact with “white collar” criminals and supposedly will learn from their mistakes. Described as a variation on “scared straight” programs meant to deter juvenile delinquency, one would think these seminars might also include a field trip to general population prisons. That way, students can get an idea of what might eventually happen to white collar criminals of the future.
