Momentum is generally seen as a positive force (Iso-Ahola & Dotson, 2014). Defined as the “impetus and driving force gained by the development of a course of events” (Meridian-Webster), it entered organization studies as the dual opposite of inertia in the strategic issue and change literature (Dutton & Duncan, 1987; Jansen, 2004; Kelley & Amburgey, 1991).
