Improvisation is the deliberate fusion of the design and execution of a novel production (Cunha et al., 2017; Miner et al., 2001). It is a feature of both extreme, sometimes cataclysmic events (Mendonça, 2007; Suarez & Montes, 2019; Weick, 1993) as well as mundane, daily organizational experiences (Abrantes et al., 2018; Cunha & Clegg, 2019; Patriotta & Gruber, 2015).
