Deriving its meaning from how people are moved to feel, think, and act in particular ways, leadership is a topic and practice of vital importance to organizations, communities, societies, and the planet. Leadership is often the practice lying behind many other forms of organization, shaping the parameters around what is considered operationally sensible. This is not to say that leadership is a stable and uncontested possession, behavior, or thing, an essence directing all human action, mastery over which would lead to organizational or even global domination – such beliefs are best left to demagogues or movie villains.
