Composition

Now that we’ve ticked off the basic rules, it’s time to move on to the next part of our program—the more complex rules and ideas that govern our photography world.

Basic rules focus primarily on the technical side of photography—shutter speeds, tripods, etc. The other side of photography is the creative side—and a lot of these choices fall under the umbrella of “composition.”

As with the basics, the rules involved with these other aspects of photography are there to help you. Stick to every rule in this book, and we can help you take some solid and creative photos. Once you’ve established the framework and gotten to grips with taking good photos, it’s time to be rebels, break some rules, and take some great pictures.
