aspect ratio The ratio between the width and height of an image. Traditional television has an aspect ratio of 4:3, 35mm film is 3:2, and wide-screen television is 16:9.
auto exposure Letting the light meter in the camera determine which shutter time and aperture should be used for a given scene.
auto focus When using automatic focus, the subject in front of the camera lens is brought into focus by letting the camera determine when the subject is sharpest.
