Chapter 11Growth

When Matt arrived home, Kendra was waiting at the front door, excited to see him.

“You look different today.” Kendra threw her arms around Matt. “More positive. Who's the lucky woman you met?” she joked.

“You are,” Matt laughed, pulling her in tight. “I met with this guy at the airport today and we had a long conversation. He helped me put some things into perspective and made me realize that I need to start doing things differently. We're going to meet sometimes when I travel through his airport. I think it will be very helpful.”

“That's great!” Kendra said, giving a hopeful smile. “The kids and I just finished dinner. There's some food in there for you if you want. I need to help Kennedy with her homework. The dishwasher isn't working, so can you do the dishes? If you wash them, I'll put them away. Sound fair?”

“Sure,” Matt replied with a grin as Kendra left the room. While Matt cleaned the dishes, he had time to think about all of the things Randy had told him. When he was done with the dishes, he went to his office and began writing. Matt figured he would only spend a few minutes working on this first assignment, but he stayed in his office for two hours. He realized he had never truly been honest with himself when it came to his actions and how they were impacting others. He teared up. He was finally acknowledging that he didn't have his life together. He had been so selfish with his family and the people at work. He felt overwhelmed as he thought about ...
