In March 2004, the city council of Aliso Viejo, California, scheduled a council vote to ban Styrofoam cups at city events because the substance DHMO was used in their manufacture. A paralegal researcher discovered this and more about DHMO on a website (www.dhmo.org) sponsored by the Environmental Assessment Center. In its notice of the proposed vote, the city fathers explained that DHMO was poised to “threaten human safety and health.”
