Transparency of a result requires the underpinning data to be made open along with the publication and is a key component of open science. The United Nations and UNESCO have made this a major focus in the past two years. The USA National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) published their excellent 2019 report on reproducibility and replicability in science, within which open data underpinning publications is key. Furthermore, though, the USA NASEM along with the Nobel Foundation are very concerned about misinformation and disinformation in science as a threat to scientific truth.
