When you get to the end of a script, it’s very exciting. You can just feel the exhilaration, knowing that you’ve done something that so many people say they want to do—write a screenplay. But most importantly, you’ve done something that you wanted to do—you’ve written a story you were burning to tell, and it’s hilarious or meaningful or scary or dramatic or thought-provoking or bizarre, but it’s yours. So pat yourself on the back… but not for too long.
It’s important to understand that when you’re finished writing, there’s still a lot to do.
