So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 19. Keeping People Engaged with Pair Programming
Pair programming is one of those things that people either love or hate. What no one can dispute, however, is that pairing produces high-quality software in a relatively short amount of time. Indeed, Alistair Cockburn and Laurie Williams [COCKBURN] have proven that while development time goes up when pairing, the number of defects injected will be fewer.
The problem with pair programming tends to be keeping people engaged when they are not the ones with their hands on the keyboard. This is exactly what was happening to the team in the following story. The team was pairing faithfully but was having trouble staying focused on the task at hand.
