By now, we have discussed stories from the operational, human, legal, and technology angles of Security. But seeing as Infosec is a cross-functional discipline, related stories can often end up belonging in several of these categories all at once.
Here is another one, along this vein.
The company in question was a truly massive multinational – by far one of the largest online transactional systems in the world. It also ran a bifurcated platform, due to prior mergers and acquisitions activities that brought together a disparate set of technologies that could not be easily consolidated.
One of those platforms was originally developed on VAX machines.*
