Introduction

By Niko Roorda

This book fills a gap.

There is a lot of literature about how to behave in a sustainable and socially responsible manner, but something has been missing.

On the one hand, there are dozens of books explaining how companies and other organizations should act decently. Such books tell you about corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainable entrepreneurship, and corporate governance (i.e. the behavior of owners, boards, and managers). You will find books discussing the responsibility of organizations toward the environment as well as their employees, procurers, and customers. Yet others investigate the responsibilities of financial institutions, governments, and society in general with regards to sustainability.
