Safety First

The stages of making a movie are divided into three phases that are called (rather unimaginatively) preproduction, production and postproduction. If I tell you that production refers to the shooting phase, you can pretty well figure out the rest. As they chug their way through the hills and valleys of the filmmaking process, even the most well-run projects inexorably gain momentum to the point where everything can seem to be hurtling past at blinding speed. Before we embark on this thrilling journey, it’s important to take a moment to consider a subject that is literally a matter of life and death.
