Chapter 13. Using Electronic Flash
Why You Need this Chapter
Your camera’s built-in flash is what I like to call a “necessary evil.” Sometimes it’s the only way to get a picture indoors or at night. However, if you use a higher ISO setting (see Chapter 10, “Improving Exposure”), or use image stabilization (see Chapter 15, “Using Zoom and Interchangeable Lenses”) or a tripod (see Chapter 14, “Controlling What’s in Focus”), you might not need to use your flash to get the photos you want.
However, sometimes flash is the best way to go. Whether your camera turns on the flash automatically or you decide to turn it on yourself but are not happy with the results, this chapter’s the right place to turn for help.
