Shooting in DA ’Hood
Standard documentary subject matter such as poverty, social justice, underground culture, etc., will almost always involve at least some shooting in rough areas, euphemistically known as “da ’hood.” Documentary filmmaking can be a foolhardy or even dangerous endeavor if you ignore the real-world issues of class, race, and culture. Here are some tips for shooting in ‘hoods from Baltimore, Maryland to Kabul, Afghanistan.
