The Secret To Recording Great Audio

The secret to recording great audio is listening …just listening. There is a lot of stuff that I get in my classes and so many other projects where they figure if the levels are hot, and the content is good, then the sound must be okay. They don’t hear that it is distorted coming right into the mic. With the equipment these days, audio has become very visual, and people have stopped listening. It’s all waveforms and LEDs. So that’s the hardest thing to teach. The only thing to make you a better sound recordist or editor is to listen a lot more and listen closely.
