The health care system contains some of our country’s most significant technological achievements, and yet millions of people go without adequate health care, often because they cannot afford to be insured or to pay out of pocket for the services. Attempts to solve the health care crisis in the United States have met with strong resistance—especially when solutions are mandated that violate the needs of other members of the ecosystem—and continued failure. Nearly every president over the past two decades has attempted legislation that would create major overhauls to the system so that health care would be more affordable. None of these programs have succeeded as of yet.
