I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
16. A Career As a Software Craftsman
Being a software developer is awesome. Look around you. Almost everything that is man-made today has software behind it. The chair you are sitting on comes from a factory that uses software. TVs, refrigerators, and cars all have software running inside them. The food you eat is connected to software—if it were not for the many companies using millions of lines of code in their systems, food from so many different suppliers and countries wouldn’t arrive at the supermarkets. Software saves lives—many of the advancements in medicine were possible because of software. Transport, communications, entertainment, sports, everything has software behind it.
