The great tech run of the late 1990s attracted our attention to the stock market initially. Being poor college students at the time, we were amazed and fascinated at how much money was being made in technology companies. For the few years leading up to the peak of the NASDAQ Composite, it appeared anyone could invest in anything and make money. No research or study seemed to be required. Just throw some cash at an Internet start-up and you could double your money in a few months! Watching the NASDAQ reach all-time highs in early 2000 was the catalyst that finally got us to put our own money into the stock market. In hindsight, that was the worst possible time for us to start investing. Without much experience and knowledge of the markets, we made some poor investments.
