Throughout her college career, Kadesha Zimmerman had been academically successful—earning a place on the dean's list, honor roll, and a leadership award her senior year—but it wasn't always as easy for her as it looked. As a young black woman looking to enter finance, she didn't see many other students like her when she arrived on campus. The support and mentoring of a senior faculty member, who was also African American, significantly contributed to her academic achievements.
