SMP is a series of lamps created from fragments of salvaged fruit crates combined with timber offcuts. Discovering there was no system in place for recycling wooden crates used at markets all over Spain, designer Sergio Mendoza set out to find simple ways to use this abundance of material, most of which is otherwise burnt.
Mendoza came up with the SMP Lamp, a product that can be made from scratch using very basic materials and techniques in less than an hour.
