Having Choices

 

Dancers—and especially modern dancers—are among the lowest-paid professionals in the country. Early in my career, I was cast in a production of Cabaret at Darien Dinner Theatre, playing Bobby, dancing in the chorus and understudying the Emcee. We were doing Ron Fields’ original choreography and had a ten-week run, so I had been having a blast, as well as a nice respite from the rigors of the modern dance world.
