Competitive behaviour
Often organisations thrive on high levels of internal competition; in many, performance is measured and performance tables are regularly published. Some individuals always want to top the performance tables. This can lead to displays of highly competitive behaviour. If people are taking competitiveness to an extreme, the impact on team culture, morale and performance may be significant, creating a circumstance where it is competitiveness itself which brings down the team.
First, think:
- Do you know what is likely to happen when this highly competitive person appears to want to compete with you and others?
