Denial
People’s reactions to change will differ depending upon their personality, their historical experiences of change initiatives and the potential impact of the change initiative on them. Sometimes an employee reacts to impending change with denial, refusing to acknowledge the benefits of the change. If you are concerned that time has not helped that person move forward and that they may become a stumbling block to the successful implementation of the change plans, you must take action.
First, think:
- Have you listened to his or her concerns? Are they presented in a balanced way? Does he or she always seek to maintain the status quo?
