IN THIS BOOK, we've touched on what makes a leader great. Yet, it's important to note that what allows one leader to guide their team toward a brighter future might lead another down a different path. It's like two coaches using the same game plan, but one ends in a touchdown and the other a field goal. The support teams surrounding a leader, like skilled managers, assistants, and administrators, play a huge role in their success. Any organization, whether a business, sports team, or school, needs strong leaders and capable managers to thrive. The beauty of outstanding leadership lies in building a culture where everyone supports and uplifts one another, regardless of their jobs. It's not about titles or climbing the ladder, but fostering a mindset where everyone is encouraged to take ownership and help those around them grow.
This reminds me of a conversation I had with the CEO of a prestigious healthcare network. When asked to describe what he looks for in those he hires, he quickly responded, “Don't tell me everything you've done or accomplished. Give me examples of how you have helped others grow.”
