Compare to create—the power of using metaphors

Metaphors are useful when expanding a thread of thought, or in communicating the essence behind an idea. A good metaphor tells a story that is related to the issue at hand, is easy to use and is quickly understood by all. Most importantly, metaphors are powerful in terms of highlighting a desired meaning.

A metaphor compares unlike things and, at the same time, sheds light on their common characteristics. When you compare the essence of two seemingly unrelated things, new linkages are formed.
