Truth 2 Vishing attacks
Unlike phishing scams, which typically use phony Web sites to harvest your personal information for the purpose of identity theft, vishing is the practice of using analog phones or voice over IP (VoIP), along with some slick social engineering tactics, to steal identities. By combining the terms voice and phishing, you get vishing, the latest in a long line of ways enterprising thieves have devised to separate you from your hard-earned cash.
Because telephone calls conducted over the Internet allow for easy caller ID spoofing (read: an identity thief can pose as your banking institution and even appear to be calling from your bank), vishing is a particularly nasty approach to the growing identity theft problem.
