Antagonists can take many forms – and are not always personified:

  • In Chernobyl, the antagonist is the Soviet power structure.
  • In Fauda, the antagonist is dependent on POV. For the Israeli government, Hamas is the main antagonist. For Hamas, it’s the Israeli government. This series does a commendable job depicting sympathetic perspectives from both sides of the conflict, but my sources tell me that there were no Arabs represented in the Fauda writers’ room.
